The Middle East Centre team has embarked on an ambitious regional tour to connect with students, alumni and prospective candidates while marking 200 years since the foundation of the University, in 1824. Under the theme of ‘200 years of making a difference’, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the bicentenary together with the regional community but the team is going further with a mission to reach out and recognise the University’s first 200 graduates who studied through the Middle East Centre. Since its launch in 2006, the Middle East Centre has graduated around 2,300 part-time Master’s students.
The first events on the regional tour took place in Saudi Arabia, with the Middle East Centre team hosting networking occasions hosted in Riyadh and Jeddah, attracting large numbers of guests from the growing student and alumni community in the Kingdom. Among these were several of the first 200 regional graduates, who were honoured during the events and awarded commemorative bicentenary certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable commitment and support for the University,
The team will continue the regional tour of events, which combine information sessions with student and alumni gatherings, including games and team building activities, with the next planned stops in Cairo, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
