Experience helps managers to cope with day-to-day company problems. In addition to experience, good managers also learn from time-honoured financial rules of thumb, which help them to effectively manage their companies. In general, finance is a part of the toolkit that managers can use for understanding and resolving business issues because knowledge of finance enables managers to understand how they can influence the process of creation of value in their firms.

This masterclass sharply focuses on the importance of finance for effective company management and integrates text and substantive real world cases to show how to use financial concepts and tools to solve business problems encountered in modern organisations. The approach will be conceptual as well as practical and will emphasise general principles. The intention will be that masterclass participants can apply these general principles
